CowleyRoad.org is an open, DIY community history project.
What is it?
CowleyRoad.org is like a Wikipedia for the Cowley Road. Every public or commercial building from the Plain to Magdalen Road has its own page. Anyone is free to contribute facts or images. The ultimate aim is to chronicle the architectural and social history of every building, back to the 1850s when Cowley Road was first created from open fields.
The project will be officially launched during Cowley Road Carnival 2017, followed by a series of public workshops to collect local people's knowledge and get people set up to add their memories and research to the website.
Who made it?
This is a project from artist Eleanor Greenhalgh and programmer Charlie Harvey.
How does it work?
